Uche Agbo Seeks Better Run With Standard Liege

Standard Liege of Belgium defender, Uche Agbo has admitted he is seeking a run of better results with the club, as he is not happy with their haul of five points from three matches at the start of the new season.

Following a goalless draw at home with Cercle Brugge last weekend, the former Granada of Spain utility player noted that Liege have not shown the quality champions are made of and affirmed that they must start getting better results in order to lain a strong claim for the title this season.

Though Agbo insisted his side deserved more than a scoreless draw at home with Cercle Brugge, he said they will now shift focus to Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League qualifier away to Ajax Amsterdam of Holland, in order to advance to the group stage.

Agbo said: “Cercle Brugge did not come to play football; they sat at the back which made it difficult for us to penetrate although we also lost some chances, but that is football for you.

“We now have only five points in three matches after we won one and drew two; which is not good for a team who want to challenge for the Belgian league title with the likes of Club Brugge.

“We are going to Holland to beat them at their home having drawn the first leg at our ground 2-2. It is a victory or a high-scored draw for us to progress to the next round of the Champions League.”
