The January transfer window gives clubs the chance to strengthen their charges as we head into the business end of the season and all 20 Premier League sides are on the lookout for new talent.

The break for the FA Cup didn’t slow down the transfer rumour mill as players from both home and abroad were linked with some big moves.

The weekend’s action also gave some managers the chance to comment on their plans for their squad as they look to make some moves before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

But keeping on top of it all can be a difficult task – so here’s our round up of the best Premier League transfer rumours.

Barcelona are trying to stop Denis Suarez from joining Arsenal this January

According to The Mirror , the Catalan giants are eager not to lose the 25-year-old midfielder this month but the Gunners are hopeful they can convince Suarez to join in a £20m deal or on a six-month loan deal.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both dropped out of the race for Roma youngster Cengiz Under.

The Italian giants have scared off the two London clubs by holding out for £45m for the Turkish winger, according to the Daily Star . The Gunners had reportedly bid £35m for Under but are unwilling to match Roma’s asking price.

 

Liverpool have ruled out a move for a young Turkish star of their own despite Abdulkadir Omur admitting his interest in joining the Reds .

The Liverpool Echo report that Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to add to his squad this month despite rumours of a £27m move for the Trabzonspor midfielder as a replacement for Adam Lallana.

 

Manchester United have made a “take it or leave it” £30m bid for Nicolo Barella.

The Cagliari midfielder has been linked with a move to Chelsea to replace the Monaco-bound Cesc Fabregas but Correire dello Sport claim that United have now stolen a step with their latest bid – though they have made it clear to the Serie A side that they will not be going any higher than £30m.

But Man United will wait until the summer to make a move for Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen.

The Dane has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as well as Spurs and Inter Milan but the Manchester Evening News report that United will not bid for him in January.

 

Real Madrid have begun talks over a £100m move for Christian Eriksen, with Isco potentially to be included in a swap deal.

The Dane has stalled contract talks as he wants to join one of Spain’s two big clubs, according to The Independent . Real want one of Eriksen or Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard but view the Spurs midfielder as a more likely option due to Tottenham’s financial restrictions.

Manchester City youngster Phil Foden has ruled out leaving the club.

The 18-year-old was asked about his future by the Manchester Evening News after his youth teammate and friend Brahim Diaz was unveiled as a Real Madrid player over the weekend but Foden committed his future to the Premier League champions.

Rafael Benitez has not yet held talks with Newcastle about extending his contract at the club.

The Newcastle Chronicle claim that reports of a new one-year contract offered to the Spaniard are untrue but the club are eager to open talks as there are just five months left on Benitez’s current deal.

 

Everton are targeting Lille midfielder Thiago Mendes as a replacement for Idrissa Gueye if he departs for Paris Saint-Germain.

According to French publication Telefoot , the Toffees are holding out for €45m (£40.4m) for Gueye and could get Mendes for €30m (£27m) as an immediate replacement.

 

Roy Hodgson played down rumours Crystal Palace were making a move for Josh Maja by saying he has never heard of the Sunderland striker.

“I have never heard of him, sorry. I don’t follow Sunderland and he has not been mentioned to me,” Hodgson was quoted as saying by The Mirror when asked about Maja, who has rejected a new contract at Sunderland.
